The Bucks County Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame proudly announces its Class of 2013 Honorees. A formal banquet and Induction ceremony was held in their honor on Thursday, April 11, 2013 at King’s Caterers in Levittown The 2013 honorees are:
Living Inductees:
Diane Bracalente – Quakertown High School Field Hockey Player 1978 to 1981. Diane was an All-Bux-mont First Team player all 3 years at Quakertown. She attended Old Dominion University after graduating from Quakertown and was a two time First Team All-American (’82-’83 and ’84-’85) and a member of 3 NCAA Championship teams. She was a participant on the USA Squad in 4 Olympic Festivals and a member of the USA Olympic Team from 1985 to 1988. She won a Silver Medal in the 1987 Pan American Games. Diane was inducted into the Quakertown (1988) and Old Dominion University (1991) Halls of Fame.
Tony Chapman – Holy Ghost Prep Basketball Coach 1979 to Present. Tony has a record of 708 – 247 at Holy Ghost. His teams have won 20 Bicentennial League Championships and Coach District One AAA Championships. His teams have made the PIAA AAA State Tournament Final Four 3 Times and the Final Game twice in 1999 and 2004.
Michael Frederick – Neshaminy High School Football and Basketball Player, University of Virginia Football and NFL Player. During his time at Neshaminy, Mike garnered many top awards including First Team selections by all the area newspapers, 1989 Courier Times Player of the Year, Suburban One Coaches Player of the Year, All-Southeastern PA First team linebacker and tight end, Big “33” selection, and 2nd Team All-State. He was also First team All-Suburban Basketball. At the University of Virginia, Mike was the captain of the 1994 team, First Team “All-Century” at Virginia by the Sporting News, and a 2-time Defensive MVP. Mike was the recipient of the Bill Dudley Award as the top college player in the state of Virginia in ’94; he was 1st Team All-ACC and the Defensive MVP of the 1994 Independence Bowl and a Senior Bowl selection. Mike was drafted in the 3rd round of the1995 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns; Mike played for the Ravens, Jets, Titans, and Eagles in a five year NFL career. He participated in Super Bowl XXXIV as a member of the Tennessee Titans.
Jack Klebe – Bensalem High School Athlete and Coach and Bishop Egan Wrestling Coach. Jack lettered in Football, Basketball, and Track and Field all three years at Bensalem. He was an All-Lower Bucks County 1st Team Football selection in 1963, 1964 and 1965 at quarterback; he was also selected by “Official Football” as the 1st Team quarterback for PA, NJ, and NY. Jack was named to the All-League Basketball team and set school records in the shot put and discus. Jack attended North Carolina State University where he broke records set by former NFL great Roman Gabriel while leading the wolfpack to the 1968 ACC Championship. In July of 1971, Jack coached the quarterbacks at Youngstown State University where he coached Eagle great Ron Jaworski. In 1974 Jack returned to Bucks County where he coached football and wrestling. He was a 2-time Coach of the Year as Bensalem football coach and a 6-time Coach of the Year as Egan’s wrestling coach. His wrestling teams at Egan garnered 7 Catholic League Championships and one National Prep School Championship.
Lori Mastropietro – Council Rock Field Hockey – Lori was a 1995 graduate of Council Rock High School. During her time at “Rock” she garnered several field hockey honors while leading her team to the 1994 PIAA State Championship. After her senior campaign, Council Rock retired her number. After high school, Lori attended the University of Virginia where she started all four years as a defensive player. While at Virginia, Lori was a 2-time Academic All-American, a 1st Team All-American in 1998, 3-time All-ACC, 1998 ACC Field Hockey Player of the Year, 2-time member of the South Regional All-American Team, and a member of the USA under 21 Field Hockey Team, and in 1998 she was a member of the United States National Team. In 2002, Lori was selected for the ACC 50th Anniversary Team.
Cheryl Boehringer Morris – Central Bucks East ( 1984 -87) and College of William and Mary (1987 – 91) field hockey and lacrosse player. Cheryl was one of the greatest athletes in Central Bucks history. In field hockey , she helped lead her team to two league titles and the 1986 PIAA State Championship; she was named 1st Team All-League in both her junior and senior seasons. In lacrosse, Cheryl was named 1st Team All-America in both her junior and senior seasons. She was a member of the USWLA National Tournament Team for three years. Her number was retired after her senior season. Cheryl’s high school career culminated as the recipient of the US Army Reserve National Scholar Athlete Award.
Mark Ozoroski – Neshaminy Langhorne High School Soccer and Baseball 1982 to ’85.As a soccer player, Mark was a three-time All-State 1st Team selection in ’82-’83, ’83-’84, and ’84-’85. In his senior year Mark was selected Pennsylvania Soccer Player of the Year, Parade All-American, and NSCAA All-American. He was Suburban One Player of the Year in his sophomore and senior seasons and 1st Team All-Area, And All-Southeastern Pennsylvania in all 3 seasons and 1st Team All- Mid-Atlantic in his sophomore and senior years. In Baseball, Mark was 1st Team All-Suburban One and All-Area in both his junior and senior seasons and All-Southeastern Pennsylvania in his senior year.
Rich Reice – Neshaminy High School, Penn State, and Professional Soccer Player. Rich was one of the finest players ever to grace the soccer fields of Bucks County. He started all 3 years at Neshaminy garnering All-League honors in ’71 and ’72; in 1973 Rich was selected to the All District One and PA All-State teams. After graduating from Neshaminy, he attended Penn State where he was named 2nd Team All-American in ’76 and 1st Team All American in’77. He was drafted in the first round (4th overall pick) of the North American Soccer League by the Philadelphia Fury in ’76. Rich enjoyed a seven year professional career during which he was named to the All-league team in 1980.
Ruth “Ritchie” Richard – Sell-Perk High School and All-American Girl’s Professional Baseball Player. Ruth graduated from Sell-Perk HS in 1946; she played 4 years of softball as an infielder, catcher, and pitcher. She captained the team in ’46. After graduation, shejoinrd the All-AmericanGirls Professional Baseball League made famous by the movie A League of Their Own starring Tom Hanks and Gina Davis. Davis’ character Dottie is loosely based on Ruth’s career. Ruth was an All-Star 6 times in her 8 year career as a member of the Rockford Peaches; Ruth helped the Peaches win 4 league championships from 1947 to 1951. Her name is inscribed on a plaque dedicated to the women players at the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY.
John Tomlinson – Central Bucks Athlete and Coach.. John is one of the most accomplished athletes and coaches ever to come out of Bucks County. As an athlete at West , John was a 1st Team All-Bux-Mont competitor in Football, Wrestling, and Baseball. At Thiel College , he was a Little All-America and a 1st Team All-President’s Conference Football player on both offense and defense for 3 consecutive years. As a wrestler at Thiel , he was the Conference Heavyweight Champion all 4 years and a 3-time NCAA qualifier.
Deceased Inductees:
Don Cameron – Neshaminy Football & Baseball – Don was a two year starter in football winning the Lower Bucks County scoring title in 1953 & ’54; he scored 38 touchdowns and was selected All-League First Team. After his Senior season, he was awarded the Outstanding Back Award by the PIAA Football Officials Assoc. In baseball, Don won the batting title with a .521 batting average; he also pitched a no-hitter against Bristol in the same season.
Stan MacFarlane – Central Bucks West High School Soccer and Basketball Coach. Stan taught and coached in the Central Bucks district from 1948 to 1994 . He was the winningest Boys’ Basketball and Soccer coach at Central Bucks. From 1956 to 69, he coached basketball to 141 wins and from 1961 to 1994, he coached soccer to 388 wins. He was also the district Athletic Director from 1973 to 1991.
Inductees of Distinction:
Tracey Arndt – Pennsbury High School and Penn State Field Hockey player. Tracey was a member of the US National Field Hockey Team from 1999 to 2005; she played in the 2002 World Cup and won a silver medal in the 2003 Pan American Games. While at Penn State from 1996 to 1999, she won two Big Ten Titles in ’97 and ’98; in ’96 Tracey was named Big Ten Freshman of the Year. Tracey was named the Big Ten’s MVP in ’99 and was named to the 1999 All-America Team.
Tricia Harm – Council Rock High School and the University of Georgia Swimmer. Tricia was a three time PIAA State Champion in the 100 meter Fly (2001), the 200 meter free (2002), and the 200 meter IM (2002) while at Council Rock High School. In 2001, she was her age group National Champion in the 200 free style.
While at Georgia, Tricia was a six time All-American and two time Honorable Mention All-American in 9 events from 2002 to 2006. Tricia captained the Bulldogs in 2006 and 2006; her team won the NCAA National Championship in 2004-05 and was Runner-up in 2003-04 and 2005-06. Tricia qualified for the Olympic Trials in 2000 and 2004.
